Nurse Rosemary Johnson (f)

Rosemary sees patients Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.00am - 2:30pm, Wednesday from 9.00am to 1pm.  She is mainly involved in preventative care to help people stay healthy, eg Well Woman/Man checks, immunisations, life style advice, blood tests, cervical smears, travel advice, help with smoking cessation and losing weight and regular reviews for people with hypertension, heart disease, asthma or diabetes. She also undertakes dressings, removal of stitches and ear syringing. To make an appointment with Rosemary phone 01957-702127 and let the reception staff know that you wish an appointment with the nurse. (NB,  Rosemary is still undergoing training so some of these services may NOT be available at the moment.  Reception staff will be able to give you information on these).

Community Nurses

Linda Strachan and Julie Smithies provide district nursing to patients in the community and in the Health Centre. They are employed by Shetland Health Board and accept referrals from your doctor, hospital staff or yourself. They are based in the nurse’s room within the Health Centre and can be contacted by phoning 01957-702233. The answerphone will inform the caller of how to contact the nurse on call.

Rebecca Barnett is the district nurse job in Fetlar.  She is also employed by the Shetland Health Board.  She can be contacted on: 01957-733228 (if out-of-hours contact this number for details of how to contact the nurse)

Health Visitors

Clare visits Yell every Friday. Please contact reception on 01957-702127 to arrange an appointment with her.

Attached Staff

The physiotherapist no longer attends the Health Centre. In the meantime patient will need to travel to Lerwick to be seen by a physiotherapist.  Referrals are made through your doctor.  You can also self-refer to the physiotherapy team.  Forms are available at the health centre and the leisure centre.
A chiropodist/podiatrist attends the Health Centre fortnightly on a Tuesday. Patients are referred by the GP.

There is a Consultant Psychiatrist. Referrals are made by the GP.
